This page contains information regarding my current position, educational background, professional interests, and favorite activities, as well as a list of my relevant coursework at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.

Over the summer of 2007 I worked as a planner/research intern for Brian Auman who is the Senior Planner at SEDA-Council of Governments in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. SEDA-COG is a regional multi-county development agency which, under the guidance of a public policy board, provides leadership, expertise, and services to communities, business institutions, and residents. My internship experience, which ran from May 21 to August 17, was centered around conducting research for the Middle Susquehanna Heritage Area Feasibility Study. The study was historically focused with the intent of obtaining Heritage Area designation for Columbia, Montour, Snyder, Union, and Northumberland Counties in Pennsylvania. The internship was a required element in the completion of my degree in Environmental Planning from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. Upon the completion of my internship experience at SEDA-COG I moved to Waldorf, Maryland, in late August, to pursue a career in a planning related field.

On Friday December 8, 2007 I was offered and accepted the position of Planner, Level I, at the Charles County Department of Planning and Growth Management, which is located in La Plata, Maryland.

My official start date was January 7, 2008.

Effective April 21, 2012 I was given a promotion to Planner, Level II, based upon recommendations from my Program Manager, my Planning Director, and my Department Director.

My current job repsonsibilities include: the review and approval of Single Family Dwelling (SFD) building permits, Residential Alterations (RAL's) and Major Subdivision Plats; for compliance with Charles County Zoning Regulations (Chapter 297). Additionally I am assigned as a Case Planner to numerous Zoning Variances (ZV's), Zoning Text Amendments (ZTA's), Zoning Map Amendments (ZMA's), Special Exceptions (SE's), and Planned Residential Developments (PRD's). I also serve the role of Site Design & Architectural Review (SDAR) Planner within the Planning Department. Functions of this position include the review of Architectural Design Codes, Site Development Plans (SDP's), Preliminary Subdivision Plans (PSP's), and residential and commercial architectural design for compliance with Charles County's Architectural Site Design Guidelines and Standards (A.S.D.G.S.). As of August, 2010, I was additionally assigned the responsibility of  reviewing Site Development Plans (SDP's) for ADA Accessibility Compliance to ensure that handicapped parking spaces in commercial developments are constructed in accordance with State and Federal Laws (MAC & ADA).

My professional interests include: conservation and smart growth planning practices, alternative energy development, forest / wilderness conservation, historical resource preservation, archeology, gentrification, and community / downtown revitalization.

My favorite activities include: traveling to places I have never been to before, volunteer work for my community, and studying local, national, and world history. Below is a recent picture of me dressed up as a canal worker circa 1830's for the North Branch Canal Towpath Reconstruction Project in Danville, Pennsylvania.
